     |thoughts = As is the case with specials like this, I was antsy through most of this first episode for the Real Fun to begin. It starts off like a standard enough Third Doctor episode, with strange disappearances and strange scientific readings. But whatever is causing trouble on Earth seems to be looking for the Doctor, and is fighting "Time Lord Command" or whatever they are as well. Since they're unable to assist the Doctor, they yank on the timeline a bit so the Doctor can help himself. Great to see Troughton back again, and the two of them are good at bickering with their brief time together so far. Hartnell only appeared on the video screen. I know there are promo pictures of them all together; I wonder if they are actually all together in the flesh at any point during these four episodes. Though I'm a little confused about why the First Doctor seems to know MORE about what's going on than anyone else.

Everyone else who goes into the TARDIS: "It's bigger on the inside!" The Brigadier when he goes into the TARDIS: "So this is what you've been blowing all our resources on. What's the trick?" Considering the TARDIS has been sitting there (most of the time) for seemingly a few years at this point, I'm surprised neither the Brigadier nor Benton have been in there.

So Omega has created the whole place including the creatures... any particular reason he made them walking piles of caviar?

I know looking for logic in Bad Guys isn't to be expected, but... even if Omega was stuck in his world, he still could've had a pretty happy existence if he just stopped trying to attack everything. He was a legendary lost hero. He doesn't need to strong-arm some Doctors to be exiled with him. With the power to transport others, other Time Lords would be jumping at the chance to take their turn hanging out with Omega.

In the end, other than Hartnell's small role due to poor health, my main complaint is that this is one of the four-parters rather than six-parters. These kind of special events don't happen too often, don't make them so short! Looking at you, [[Day of the Doctor]] at about 1.5 episode lengths.

So the Doctor now has a functional (more or less) TARDIS and his knowledge of its workings back. Yet I also know he more or less sticks around with UNIT for the next couple years while he still looks like Jon Pertwee. He seemed so desperate to get away before, I wonder why he sticks around. Maybe he's just grown attached to them, but he doesn't seem like a guy who'll _admit_ that to the Brigadier.}}

(First watched 2025-06-10, -11, -12, -16) As is the case with specials like this, I was antsy through most of this first episode for the Real Fun to begin.

Interesting extra wrinkle that wasn't the case for something like Day of the Doctor; the UNIT people Pertwee is hanging around with have met Troughton before, so Benton is strangely being reunited with a version of the Doctor he's already met, though he's come to know the newer one much better.
