SPOILERS AHEAD OF COURSE, DUMMY
I really like this movie. I think it balances well the acts of being an epilogue to established characters/events from a series, as well as introducing new things that stand alone.
After watching Al as a skilled but lumbering piece of armor through the majority of the series, it's a real kick to see him in human form and retrained, busting loose on enemies without transmutation circles and dressed much like his brother.
I am also a bit of a sucker for both the concepts of parallel worlds as well as historical fiction taken in fantastical directions, so this movie scratched those itches.
One disappointment I have is that this is the end of this particular continuity of Fullmetal Alchemist. I've heard it said that the folks behind it say the story is finished, BUT this movie really does leave a big thing open. At the end Ed and Al say they're going to have to get rid of that uranium bomb that came through from their world earlier. I think the story of these two now COMPLETELY locked in this world and having to manage this without alchemy would be something very different than seen before.
