So DS was really kicking the shit out of all historical precedent in 2006. This comparison shows how the two DS models' sales were nearly as high as total hardware sales had been the previous year.

I had a custom DS skin created as a gift for my grandma. This is a fraction of the size of the one sent off to be used for actual printing. It features grandkids and pets.

And here's the finished product. This image doesn't look as vibrant as the one before, but that's just the conditions of the picture; it really looks fine.

And here she is playing with it.

Yeah, DS was being a bit of a beast.

GAFfer fortified_concept was using a larger version of this image as his avatar. The auto-resizing looked a bit ugly, it was an easy fix, and I do like Final Fantasy, so I whipped this up.

There was another case of arguing over poor quality versions of images. In this case it was whether the shots for Pokémon Battle Revolution were a big leap over Pokémon Colosseum. So to make the comparison a bit fairer I took some Colosseum images, shrunk them, and put them at awkward angles.

Looks like I was mocking up Genesis emulation on DS, with two different types of resizing from Genesis resolution to DS resolution.

I guess this is the genesis of the famous Pac Chart! DS was outselling everything else combined, so it made pie charts more fun.

cvxfreak I believe was using this short clip from a Japanese Brain Age 2 commercial as his avatar. It became a bit of a meme to replace the brain age she was reacting to with other stuff. In this case, how ridiculous a bar chart looks when DS outsells everything else by so much.

I don't even remember what game it was (PE?), but people were accusing its font of being a ripoff of the one used for US SNES Final Fantasy III, so I made a small comparison. From looking at things pretty closely, I determined that a few matched exactly, but most just looked similar.

Non-text comparisons for the same game. There were accusations of it ripping off tiles from SNES games, so I looked for some areas that seemed similar from memory. I didn't find any direct rips, just stylistic similarity. Of course, my work is hardly exhaustive.

Another take on a combination wiimote/nunchuk. I think this is more accurate to what I figure a Sony/MS controller would need be to offer complete back-compatibility with controls from the current dual-analog controllers. Each hand would have the analog stick, two shoulder buttons, and not just a d-pad OR face buttons but both.

Somebody brought up the concern that after so many titles like Super Mario Bros. DX and Super Mario Advance, people might not realize New Super Mario Bros. was actually something new. So these images were my exaggerated version of how they could make it clear that it wasn't a remake.

Early experiment in animated pie charts, probably the weeks of the year so far. Some people don't like that the pies aren't a constant size, but I like that it shows how some weeks are just bigger than others. Not knowing which color is supposed to represent each system makes this a bit hard to follow, but it's consistent with the rest of my automated work.

The DS Opera browser was visually shown to be blocking bad websites. The representation looked similar to the famous avatar of Mr. Angry Face, so I put it in instead.

A comparison between Nintendo DS as it exists, and a Nintendo SS (single screen) with one larger screen. Used in section 5 of this page.

For purposes of an upcoming image edit (which shows up early in the next month) I needed a decent image of just the Ouendan guys. I cropped them out of a wallpaper, shrunk them down, gave them a transparent background, and uploaded them because I figured they'd come in handy as a response to things. Haven't used it much, though.
