*Cosmic Engineers (1950) | *Cosmic Engineers (1950) - Read 2026. {{Hide|In the 5900s humanity travels the solar system, but not beyond. A small group of humans, including one woman who spent a thousand years in suspended-but-thinking animation, find themselves involved with a superior intelligence (the Engineers) trying to save the universe. Superior, but stagnant so they lack the imagination necessary to find tricky solutions. They do so, and the universe is saved. TWIST: the Engineers and humanity are both different products of an even older civilization that used to live in the solar system before another star slammed into the sun making it uninhabitable for eons.}} | ||
