AKA: Johnny Nighttrain, Nightfraud (derisive nickname)

Most well-known for claiming to know a lot of information about the Revolution.  People began calling him Nightfraud when they deemed his info wrong, but I think these people are looking at the glass as half-empty.

  • He claimed that Revolution was at least as powerful as the Xbox 360, and possibly PlayStation 3.  He based this on a short video he claims he saw.  From what we now know, it seems Revolution is significantly less powerful than either other system.  However, this doesn't necessarily make him a liar.  As Drinky Crow said, combine a video of much-better-than-this-gen graphics with an excitable Nintendo fanboy, and you're not going to get a very objective opinion.
  • He claimed that Retro's new game made major use of the controller, whose secret was not yet known.  He expected we'd see this at Nintendo's pre-E3 press conference.  We didn't see the controller at E3, and only a few seconds of Metroid Prime 3, so this was deemed bad info.  However, a Retro game is STILL the only Revolution footage we've seen.  From the eventual actual Revolution controller playtests, the one most indicative of an actual game's use was Metroid Prime 2 made to work with the Revolution controller.  Many think that with the larger-than-expected PS3 showing by Sony, Nintendo decided to cut back on their Revolution revealings to make it a bigger deal at a later date.  So it seems likely enough that Nighttrain's info was just slightly outdated.
  • He claimed that the look of the Revolution system was similar to a Mac Mini.  They are indeed very similar.
  • He claimed that many developers were putting major support behind the system "on principle alone".  This can't be verified right now since noone is publically showing off their Revolution work, but since that time we have had the controller unveiling and many positive developer reactions.  Certainly the sort of thing that could be considered a principled reason for support.
