Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

Good fun. Â It's no classic for the ages, but as an eye-catching idea executed competently, it works. Basically this is a secret history of what Abraham Lincoln was up to behind the scenes of the stories we've all heard, as written by a biographer based on previously secret journals. Â While history tells us his grandfather died by Indiana attack and his mother through milk sickness, here we see that the truth is they were both vampire-related deaths, and Abe learning of this caused him to devote his life to ridding America of vampires. I don't know how many liberties were taken with the actual Lincoln's life, but as an American with an average understanding of Lincoln the legend this seemed to jive up well enough--and the few things I did double-check on (beyond vampires) did turn out to be accurate, like how Stephen Douglas also courted the woman Lincoln would end up marrying. 4/5
