What a weird episode.  In that not only is it not a paranormal thing, but even Mulder thinks so right from the beginning.  We keep seeing flashes of Pfaster as some sort of demon, like they're trying to trick us.  I mean, if it was just used to accentuate the troubles in Scully's mind, okay, but they kept showing it in situations involving different people.

The Coriolis effect does not work that way!  I bet this episode was a big boost in propagating that "info" about how water drains in different hemispheres.  I know it got me back in the day.
Though it comes to gruesome effect here, the idea of "watered down devil worshipers" is kind of a funny one.
