     |thoughts = My first thought... a clip show!? Who makes a movie a clip show of a handful of previous movies?! Were they contractually obligated to do a fifth and ran out of funds? But as it turns out it's almost the opposite. Another TV movie series wasn't going to be able to deliver, so an extra Hercules TV movie was rushed into production. But without enough time to construct an entirely new full-length movie, having a lot of reused clips was the compromise. Fair enough.
So Iolaus is back. We hear his wife has passed but he's got kids. It's kind of weird knowing that this is coming before several years of a TV show, with both Iolaus and Hercules basically going on about how their adventuring days are behind them, they're not as young as they used to be, that people aren't coming to ask for help because it seems like Hercules must've already taken care of all the big problems. Well, that clearly must not be so.
As for what counted as the original story for this movie, not bad. But they telegraphed "The minotaur is another of Zeus's sons!" so far ahead that there wasn't much suspense in it.
I get that they're just supposed to be meaningless local bumpkins... but the meaningless local bumpkins seemed kind of idiots. First pissed at Hercules because they think he's not Hercules. Then pissed enough to try to murder him because he ''was'' Hercules and beat them in a fight.
Speaking of fighting, Iolaus's martial arts moves were pretty effective... but the exaggerated Bruce Lee vocalizations pretty embarrassing. I wonder if he keeps either the moves or the sounds on the series.}}
