|thoughts = Interesting premise, that they've accidentally landed the TARDIS within some sort of... artifically shrunken environment these entertainers have filled with strange things from history. After the first episode I note... I didn't see much old Doctor Who when young, but one I did see some of stuck with me. I don't THINK this is that one, but it has some similarities so it may be. Matching: I remember a sort of time loop premise (as is happening with the ship crew and passengers) and a monster (like the plesiosaurus here), but I remember it being a train they were on. Maybe or maybe not a better candidate match will appear sometime through the rest of the Third or Fourth Doctor eras. | |thoughts = Interesting premise, that they've accidentally landed the TARDIS within some sort of... artifically shrunken environment these entertainers have filled with strange things from history. Second episode, this is a fun serial so far. The Doctor and Jo keep getting into different situations they don't have too much trouble getting out of, keeping things lively. And there's a whole parallel story going on outside, with the entertainers (and uhhh slavers) running this miniaturized show and the planetary bureaucrats who look like Larry David and think the entertainers are some sort of secret spies.}} | Second episode, this is a fun serial so far. At the end... all pretty good fun. I'm more sure than I was after episode one that this is the one I remember from decades ago. The plesiosaurus was a bit of a red herring as a monster, the Drashigs are closer to what I remembered. | |||
One time travely nitpick. The Doctor talks about how barbaric the miniscope is, and how he had previously bugged the Time Lords into using their influence to stop them. He then tells the people in this episode that they're using a banned device. But... what about time? If the Time Lords didn't take the step of straight up removing all of these devices from history, that would mean there's a point in time where these devices were used before being banned. How sure is the Doctor he's not in such a period?}} | |||
