(First watched 2007-04-13) Damn, what a long mid-season break.  Stargate continues its trend of finding major important ancient artifacts, and quickly losing them.  In this case they literally lose an Ancient!  Merlin, of all people, only gets to hang around for half an episode!?  Fun to see some of his memories in Daniel Jackson before they became too overwhelming, though.  I wonder how much Daniel actually recalls.  It's understandably knowledge he'd want to hide from the Ori, but it would also be pretty funny if he ended up to not only have forgotten his own memories (of being ascended), but of Merlin's too.

(First watched 2007-04-27)  OK, that was great.  We've had a few alternate universe stories before, but this was different.  Usually they've been a chance to see the regular cast acting differently, but in this case it was more about them mostly not even being around, and the world being a very different place for a relatively recent difference in history.  Fun to see Lorne as the alternate SG-1 leader and play the Jack/Cam style.  Also Hammond!  And McKay, of course.  But the accidental transfer of our Carter killing the alternate Carter in a violent explosion?  OUCH.

At first I thought it seemed like the first alternate universe story in season 1, where that Earth was being conquered by the Goa'uld and all Daniel could do was use the knowledge to help his own Earth.  In this instance it was reversed, however, with Sam bringing the knowledge of a neat trick to save that world.  Putting the planet out of phase... nice.
