This episode creeps me out from a human perspective. With the goa'uld often being big overblown silly enemies, we often forget that each one of them has a regular person trapped in there. To get a brief glimpse of Apophis's host able to briefly communicate after thousands of years trapped in his own body only because death is near is... about as sad and depressing as this show gets. | |||

This episode seems to be seen as a bit of a low point for many. For me it's not a favorite, but it's also no [[Stargate SG-1 Season 1|Emancipation]]. These first few seasons they always seemed to be bringing plagues or troubles back through the gate to Earth, so them faced with doing the reverse was a decent twist. | |||
One disappointing thing is that Stargate is usually pretty good at making their aliens look pretty weird. I mean, they already have a galaxy full of displaced human cultures so they can go the no-makeup-necessary route all the time, allowing the actual aliens to look pretty weird. But these just looked like naked guys with white paint on them. | |||
The ultimate problem with the people turned out to be nothing like a virus, but a harmful change in a normal sound due to crashing a UAV into one of the weird plants of the world. Soo... does that never happen on its own on this world? Wind and lightning are pretty good at messing up trees on Earth, but these moving fungus things are only bothered by miniature airplane crashes? | |||
On a minor note, there's one time when a couple of the team are planning on staying on the planet, but still walk the others to the gate. Normally this would be no big deal, but in this case the gate was 10 miles from the village. So they walked 20 miles to ''stay''? I guess they must've been worried there was still some unknown danger between. | |||
