Day Break is a perfect example of a show with an awesome premise, but merely competent execution. Day Break involves a time loop similar to Groundhog Day. But where Phil merely had to find new ways to entertain himself on February 2, Detective Brett Hopper is reliving a day where he's being framed for murder and his friends and family are being threatened to force him to comply. On top of that, he is not physically reset every day. So while he wakes up in the same bed, he retains the injuries from the day before. No get out of death free card for Brett. It's just... compared to shows I say unequivocally I like, I just wasn't feeling the characters. I just kept having the feeling that if five groups of writers were working on different versions of this premise, there'd be some I'd end up liking a lot more than this. But being an extremely rare premise, if you're interested at all this is pretty much all you've got. It wasn't a popular show on its original airing, and was cancelled even before all the produced episodes aired. However, unlike many cancellations it doesn't leave with a ton of unanswered questions or on a cliffhanger. They must've realized this premise wasn't one that could just go on indefinitely, so its 13 episodes wrap things up quite well, with only a few strings intentionally left loose. 3/5
