The first time I remember hearing anything about MST3K was probably early 1996, maaaaybe late 1995. There was an article about the show and the movie in TV Guide, which I read and found quite interesting. We didn't have cable at the time, but this was the brief period when the show was syndicated to local markets, so I watched a few of those. Pod People was the first I remember seeing, and thus remains special to me. However, I did not watch many this way--around here at least they were played at like 2 AM. So even when I intended to watch them I'd often sleep through or fail to wake up for some mid-night alarm I'd set.
Later in 1996 we did get DirecTV, but by this time the show was in its final months of reruns on Comedy Central so I didn't see many that way, either. However, once it started back up on SciFi Channel the next year I was a regular watcher, so there are very few from those last three seasons I haven't seen.
