This is a real stinker. After the earlier episodes set up the premise, this was the first "planet of the week" episode, so it scared me that this was the first indication of what quality they might be. For a military officer, Sam whines to her superior a bit much. I know the situation isn't so great for you, Sam, but you'll live. Luckily, if you make it past this episode there's nowhere to go but up! | |||

I'm not big on this episode. The premise is that one of the SG teams went a bit nuts. The leader in particular, though he got part of his group to go along with him. They've taken on a role as gods and are overworking the local population. While I do enjoy seeing a different twist on the fake-gods concept, this seems a bit early to be doing it with military people. You'd think only the very best would be going off-planet at this point, but one snaps when the program has only been around several months? It would also be more believable if it was in a later season. At this point the Earthlings haven't performed any particularly amazing feats off-world, or had any real victories against the Goa'uld. In a later season it would be easier to understand somebody getting too big a head about their accomplishments and capabilities. | |||
It also doesn't help when the nut in question is the dad from Boy Meets World. | |||
